Why I moved my sites from Hostinger to Cloudflare

I used to host sites on Hostinger and Netlify. Now every new site is built with Astro and hosted on Cloudflare Pages. This page is about leaving Hostinger. The bigger picture is on how I build every website with Astro and Cloudflare.

What I moved

  • growersguide.ca
  • zusashimaintenance.com

Both were on a Hostinger VPS. In October 2026 I moved them to Cloudflare, then cancelled the VPS.

Why I moved

[ALI TO CONFIRM: your real reasons for leaving the Hostinger VPS (cost, upkeep, speed, something that broke)]

How the move went

Both sites now build with Astro and deploy on Cloudflare Pages, the same way as this step-by-step guide. If you are wondering why Astro, see why I use Astro.

[ALI TO CONFIRM: were these sites already Astro on the VPS, or did you rebuild them in Astro as part of the move?]

What went wrong

What it cost

BeforeAfter
HostingHostinger VPS: [ALI TO CONFIRM: monthly or yearly price you paid]Cloudflare free plan: $0

The catch with free is the build limit: 500 Pages builds a month shared across all projects. I had to turn off preview builds to stay under it. That story is in what the Cloudflare free plan really gives you.

Questions people ask

Which sites did you move?

growersguide.ca and zusashimaintenance.com. I moved both off a Hostinger VPS to Cloudflare in October 2026.

Did you keep the Hostinger VPS?

No. Once both sites were on Cloudflare I cancelled it.

Is Cloudflare free really enough after leaving a VPS?

For my sites, yes, with one change: I turned off preview builds to stay under the 500 builds a month. See the build limits page.

Would you still use Hostinger for anything?
